Reunion - Prologue

Now..

About 15 years later..

Today, 26th. December, 2009

This building was formerly a piece of land containing a few residential houses for the Kemaman District officers. One of our friends used to live here- Zahrin Zahid and yes, some of us loved to visit him, not to see him but to play the expensive-Nintendo-game-set. He had a few awesome games and a beautiful ‘adik’ too.. [-admit it]. This is also the main road to the houses of Hamka Hassan, Hisyam Malek and Ghazali Said. -And Mazlinda’s house too. Jalan Dato’. When the town’s name was spelled as Chukai and Terengganu as TRENGGANU. [-and I still hate that change really..]

-And that was 30 years back..

Today, we are re-uniting again in this piece of land, but now in the hall called Dewan Berlian Utama attending a double-event: My Wedding and ‘Da Re-union’. Now you are back in the town of Chukai, a place that is so familiar, so close to us. A place that had given half of our lives ‘bitter-sweet’ memories. A place that we ever called HOME.

Now we are together again. To your eyes you probably see a bunch of strangers in front of you, but they are probably partner or families of our friends. We were friends once, and we still are so they are also welcome.

Re-union - Prologue

Then..

The first re-union was held somewhere in mid 90’s- [ it is a sign of you getting older when you just cannot remember the date – I guess]

It happened all of a sudden during the Hari Raya Visit. The meeting place was – at the resident of Norsiah Mohd Nor. The then committees were Norida, Zafarol, M Huda Kassim, Norsiah and was Lead by me. There were a lot of smoke coming out from the three of us–‘Da Guyz’ as a result of the heavy discussion. Polluting the air at Norsiah’s house and contaminating the kuih raya. [as well as emptying the kuih raya containers hehe..] in addition to the cigarette butts that we decorated Norsiah’s floor with abstract theme. In approximately 3 days, we managed to group around 50 people including 3 or so of our Tiong Hua Amoi-friends [thanks to Chan Ley Key Dozy or is it Woo Chen Zhen??]

Since most of us at that particular time were still a ‘Graduan In Process’ plus ‘School drop-out’ plus ‘ding-dong-oh-we-still-alive’ -we decided to collect RM10 each for the ‘Tabung Makan-Makan’

Then we all enjoyed the 2 Barrels of KFC, home-made ‘mee-halus-goreng’ and keropok keping cooked by Azlan’s mom (Now Dr. Azlan), urgent-ordered-Satay, few pack of ground nuts and few bottles of Coke and Hey! A-pile-of-rubbish we left at Pantai Marina.

There were a lot of ‘hahaha’ and ‘hehehe’ here and there. Then the ‘click-clack’ sound of an old fashion analog camera. Well, the pictures proved that everybody was smiling. A few days later I was screwed by few of our Apek-friends for not informing and inviting them.

God knows we did enjoy that little re-union. The FACT is -we missed that moment too.. [Indeed I really missed that moment very much-]

Da Reunion 2009 - Intro

In the name of God, The Most Merciful and Praised be Upon Muhammad s.a.w – His Messenger

First and foremost, Thanks God for His Willingness to make this event happening, right here and right now in this hall of Dewan Berlian Utama, Bangunan MPK Kemaman.

We are hoping that this re-union will be blessed by Him, successful in the end, hence becoming the most memorable one which will keep us smiling in the distance future and warming our hearts when we come to think of it.

Actually the idea of calling for this Part II Re-Union started as early as new millennia -year 2000 but it was never materialized due to the ‘life is just beginning’ for many of us. So be it.

Then, in April 2009, the idea came back into the picture when I was engaged to be married. The ‘Wake-Up Call’ was made after the venue was chosen. Since I am going to invite our friends to My Wedding then why not organize the re-union party as well? It is like killing two birds with a stone.

So it took exactly 3 continuous hectic months to plan, co-ordinate, arrange and execute this re-union. No doubt, it took a lot of courage which involved time, energy, commitment and of course – money just to make this event a reality. Indeed it is really draining my pocket!! But it is a CHALLENGE. In the end, it is self-satisfaction that matters and surely a joy to all the temporary committees and definitely–myself, to see our long lost friends and all of us, attending my wedding and gathering in this imperfect, low-budget-part 2-reunion-party.

I wish and I do hope that this effort will not end here. Let us pray that this will just be the beginning. We started this about 19 years ago. Now, I believe that we are capable of not just attending the Re-Union but to be TRULY UNITED.

To all temporary committees, thank you for voluntarily contributing your restless-unforgettable –free of charge-efforts for this historical event, thanks to some of you who have made the effort to locate some of our long lost friends. Last but not least THANKS TO ALL OF YOU for sparing your time supporting this program and choosing to come here.

SO NOW, We gave you an almost complete task, an almost finished product, to all of you to decide how we are going to complete and finish THE STORY.. [Unless if we choose to give the most classic excuse..]

..And that is the CHALLENGE!!
